5 TYPES OF PEPPER AND ITS SUITABLE USE

Imagine using tissue paper as a spice because you don’t know what it is used for. The food is not only going to be sour, you still won’t like the outcome. This is exactly what happens when we use the wrong pepper for the right reasons and vice versa. I want you to start using the right pepper for the right purpose henceforth because this will help you maximize the full potential of the pepper. Let’s go on the awesome ride! Ready? Go!


You probably don’t know that there are more than 24varieties of pepper in the world right now because you are familiar with just a few of them; some of which are: BELL PEPPER, BANANA PEPPER, PIQUILLO PEPPER, CHERRY PEPPER, HATCH PEPPER, ANAHEIM PEPPER, POBLANO PEPPER, HUNGARIAN PEPPER, JALEPNO PEPPER, HABANERO PEPPER, SCOTCH BONNET, GHOST PEPPER, etc

Something interesting is that each of them have their peculiarities and suitable uses but only few people are aware. I am about to show you the suitable use of 5 out of the many today for free. So let’s have it!

  1. Bell Pepper:

    Yellow Bell Peppers

    They are large compared to other hot peppers and can be green, yellow, orange & red. When in their green state, they are not fully ripe and are good for adding colors and sweetness to food. It is best suitable sliced in meals, to make it spicy and sweet.

  2. Habanero:

    This pepper is mistaken for the scotch bonnet pepper most times but they are different from each other and also serve different & unique purposes, though, can be used for similar purpose in some cases. It is very flavorful & good for hot(spicy) sauces.

  3. Scotch Bonnet Pepper(I Love to call it habanero Sister but Habanero is hotter than it):



    One fun fact about scotch bonnet is that it looks like the tam o’shanter hats, popularly worn by men in Scotland. Overall best in adding zest with a tinge of fruitiness to meals. It finds it place in pepper sauce, patties, & chicken dishes.

  4. Black Pepper:



    This is a very good spice which can also be used due to the presence of piperine(makes it unique & different from other pepper which has capsaicin instead). It is known for its flavour & its world best seasoning used in pepper soup ingredients.

  5. Tobasco Pepper:

    It is known for its been juicy inside instead of dry. Tobasco is small but spicy & is also good for sauce like some other pepper.
